Test Optional

Plymouth State University applicants are no longer required to submit SAT or ACT test scores.*

In keeping will our long-standing application review procedures, PSU will continue to:

  • concentrate on an applicant’s academic performance in high school as the primary factor in offering admission
  • recalculate a GPA for each and every applicant, considering the student’s grades in only the five core academic areas: English, math, science, social studies and foreign language
  • recognize challenging academic curriculums by giving extra weight to honors, AP, IB, and college-level courses
  • strongly consider each applicant’s extracurricular involvement, admissions essay, and a recommendation from a high school teacher and/or counselor

If applicants choose to submit their test scores, we will view these as supplementary materials that these students are proud of and have chosen to share as a part of their application.

What our students, alumni, & faculty say

“One of the greatest things that Plymouth State has to offer is, if you have an interest, not matter how small it is, there are ways to explore it here. If it’s not already concrete in stone in a club or in a class, then they make it really easy for you to take that interest and expand it and find other people interested in it too.”
