Did you know that you may be able to double or even triple your gift to Plymouth State University? More than 10,000 employers sponsor matching gift programs that match charitable contributions made by their employees, employee’s family members, retirees, and board members. These gifts are often at a ratio of 2:1 or even 3:1, and a “soft credit” for the employer gift is noted on your giving record. To find out if your employer has a matching gift program, search our matching gift database or contact your Human Resources Office.

Appreciated Securities, Stocks, and Bonds
Consider transferring appreciated securities to make an outright gift or a payment on a pledge and you may be eligible for significant tax advantages. The charitable gift is completed on the date of delivery, which in turn determines both the fair market value and the tax year in which the gift is deductible. Fair market value for publicly traded securities is the mean selling price on the date of delivery of the gift. Due to potential complexities, the University may accept gifts of closely held stock on a case-by-case basis.
We recommend that you consult with one of our Development Team members before securities transactions are initiated. For general questions on giving stock and securities, please contact Kit Otto at (603) 535-2214.
Planned or deferred gifts allow you to make a significant commitment to Plymouth State without sacrificing income needed today. Many alumni and friends make contributions to Plymouth State through provisions in their wills, trusts, retirement plans, life insurance, or other testamentary arrangements. Plymouth State also offers charitable gift annuities, annuity trusts and unitrusts, which provide the donor and a second beneficiary with income for life.
For more information about these and other planned giving options, please contact Paula Lee Hobson at (603) 535-2131.
Gifts of Property
There are many ways to make a gift using real estate, including giving a property to Plymouth State outright, with retained life estate, and other strategies that meet both your and the University’s needs. Plymouth State will consider gifts of real estate and tangible personal property on a case-by-case basis.
