Adrian Newton ’02 recalls feeling honored to have been nominated as a Top Graduating Senior by her advisor and mentor, the late Gary Richey, a professor in the education department from 1995-2003. “To be recognized by the professional staff of Plymouth was a great capstone to my years there,” she says.

Newton chose Plymouth State because of its focus on elementary education, its size, and the location. Since graduating, she has taught middle school English in the Manchester, New Hampshire school district, and in May 2011, she received her master’s degree in language arts/literacy from New England College.

In May 2005, she married alumnus Ken Newton ’95, and in 2008 they added to their family, adopting their daughter, Angelina, from Russia.
