“My parents and I pulled up at 5 p.m. on a Friday afternoon looking for a college tour,” recalls Wesley Roy ’02. “Associate Director of Admissions David McBride was getting into his car for the weekend and saw my parents and I walking up to the Admissions House. Despite the late hour, he welcomed my parents and I to PSC (college at the time). He gave us a personalized tour and from that moment on I knew Plymouth was for me!”
That initial impression of Plymouth State and its people left an indelible mark on Roy; he served as an admissions guide during his time at PSU, and after graduating entered the college admissions field himself. As an international recruiter for several universities, he’s traveled overseas extensively, having visited Egypt, France, India, Lebanon, and more. In 2011, Roy was promoted to director of admissions and recruitment at a liberal arts college in Rhode Island, similar to the size and feel of Plymouth State.
Roy married the love of his life, Racheal, in September 2008 on Lake Champlain in Vermont. Today, their puppies Emma and Benson keep them busy.
“For me, choosing Plymouth was about the feeling I got when being there. It was and still is the people, programs, location, and energy that make Plymouth special.”
