Past-peak leaves still cling to the trees and temperatures waver between chilly and comfortably warm, but the waning light is our most certain indicator that we’re drawing ever near to the shortest of days. It’s time to bid adieu to flip flops and pull out the closeted fleece and flannel that will thwart the colder days ahead. It’s time for toasting pumpkin seeds, picking the last of the apples, making hot cocoa, and lighting fires – first fires, like the one we’ll set aflame next Wednesday, October 29th at 11:05 a.m. in the HUB’s Fireplace Lounge.
This is Student Life’s fourth annual First Fire Ceremony, and we hope you’ll gather with us to share in those few minutes where we both ignite the fire and celebrate the vibrant community that we are – greeting and gabbing with fellow students, faculty and staff. It’s fast paced, full of free food and conversation, and of course, there’s the annual mug to grab as you start or grow your collection. This years poem is written and recited by Ivy Page.
We don’t want you to miss it. It’s the best 10 minutes of community building you’ll find on campus this fall, and Student Life’s favorite event of the year. Please join us.
Mugs are limited to one(1) per person and you must be present to get yours.
