

About Dr. Vascak
Dr. Cynthia Worthen Vascak is assistant professor of art education and serves as coordinator of the art education program at Plymouth State University. She teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses in Art Education, Integrated Arts, Arts and Learning, Constructivist Pedagogy, Emancipatory Pedagogy, Learning Theory, Diversity and Multiculturalism, Community, Differentiated Instruction, and the Art of Drawing the Figure. She is the project director for the federally funded Integrated Instructional Model Arts in Action Research Project and is the co-developer of the Integrated Instructional Model. Dr. Vascak also serves on the Board of VSA arts of New Hampshire.
Dr. Vascak holds a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from the University of New Hampshire, a Master of Fine Arts from Boston University and her bachelor's degree with a double major in visual art and literature from Pan American University. She has also studied at the Boston Museum School, Concordia University in Montreal, the University of Quebec, the Montreal Museum School, and the Escuela Nationale de Belles Artes in San Miguel d'Allende Mexico.
As an artist, Dr. Vascak is primarily a printmaker and draftswoman who particularly loves the art of drawing. She has worked in the printing processes of etching, lithography, drypoint and monotype and with the drawing medias of charcoal, ink, pencil, pastel and oil pastel. She is also a papermaker and uses paper pulps as fine art media.
She is a member of the National Art Education Association, the New Hampshire Art Education Association, the International Society for Education through the Arts, The Women's International League for Peace, the Association for Supervision, Curriculum and Development, Cape Cod Printmakers, AVA Gallery, the Monotype Guild of New England, and the Phi Lambda Theta and Phi Delta Kappan Honor Societies, She is a member artist of the Winstanely Roark Fine Arts Gallery of Dennis, Mass.
