APPLIED COMPUTER SCIENCE MAJOR
Goals

 (Adopted on November 6, 2002)

Goal:  Prepare broadly-educated technical professionals capable of developing new technology in the computing sciences.

Intended outcomes:  A graduate of the Applied Computer

Science program should  

1.              have a solid background in the core area of computer science and some of its related fields. 

2.              have developed strong problem-solving abilities which enable him/her to analyze, design, and implement computer-based solutions, particularly software-based ones, for a variety of realistic problems. 

3.              communicate fluently, both in writing and orally, with both professionals and non-professionals. 

4.              be able to adapt to new technology on his/ her own. 

5.              be aware of ethical and other societal issues related to computers and computing.
