In addition to departmental outcomes, students who successfully complete the Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training are able to:

 

1.      Master the following entry-level athletic training skills:

a.       Assess and evaluate injury and illness in the physically active individual.

b.      Provide appropriate care for injuries sustained by the physically active individual.

c.       Describe the symptoms and etiology of injury and illness.

d.      Describe and discuss critical issues related to health care administration.

e.       Describe and explain the functional application of various pharmacological agents used in treating injury.

f.        Recognize and appropriately refer clients for the care of psychosocial condition, and general medical conditions and disabilities.

g.       Provide appropriate nutritional advice for active individuals.

h.       Employ appropriate therapeutic modalities to promote and improve healing.

i.         Develop, implement and supervise therapeutic exercise programs specific to client needs.

j.        Describe and demonstrate functional knowledge of the professional responsibilities of a certified athletic trainer.

2.      Demonstrate use of technology in gathering and disseminating educational resources.

3.      Obtain national certification from the National Athletic Training Association Board of Certification.

4.      Apply the skills required of an entry-level position or advanced graduate work.
