goals ~ assessment plan  ~  results  ~  action

Assessment Plan

To assess that our goals and standards for World Language Learning are being met, the Foreign Language Department has established a plan that will examine our Program through:

A.     an annual review of our course syllabi, which should comply with Foreign

Language standards and Department goals.

B.     a semester Review of curriculum, updating and scheduling of courses to

concur with standards as well as goals, to ensure oral, reading, and writing

proficiency of the foreign language student.

C.  an annual alumni survey and collection of written communication (via

e-mail, letters) that indicate student successes and application of their

knowledge and language skills in their careers.

D.     the semester Course Evaluations which reflect and comment on the course

content, and the attainment of our program goals and objectives.

E.      A student Portfolio Assessment. Upon completion of our language program,

students will submit a portfolio which will include course syllabi, selected

student work that reflects the acquisition, development, and application  of language skills and knowledge.  The final portfolio will be a compilation of  material collected and submitted in semester course portfolios, to demonstrate student progress and accomplishment.
