INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MAJOR 
Goals

(Adopted on November 6, 2002)

  Goal:  Prepare broadly-educated technical professionals for application-
  focused employment in the computing industry. 

 Intended outcomes:  A graduate of the Information Technology program
 should  

1.              have a basic understanding of the core area of computing and a solid background in several of its application-based areas. 

2.              have developed strong problem-solving abilities which enable him/her to analyze, design, and implement computer-based solutions for a variety of realistic problems. 

3.              communicate fluently, both in writing and orally, with both professionals and non-professionals. 

4.              be able to implement the use of new technology. 

5.              be aware of ethical and other societal issues

related to computers and computing.
