![]() ASSESSMENT TASKFORCE MINUTES OF THE APRIL 14, 1999 MEETING PRESENT: W. Fogleman (Chair), J. Kulig, C. LeBlanc, M. McNeil, C. Moniz, L. Reitsma, Chair appologized for the apparent confusion over meeting location. Will make sure that everyone is clearly notified of the next meeting date and place [see below]. Chair reported that he has received input on assessment activities from Business, Computer Science, Natural Science, Psychology and Social Work programs as well as Robert Miller’s excerpt from the most recent letter to NEASC (1998) and some information from the Registrar’s Office and Dean of Student Affairs. Departments which have not yet responded will be contacted again. The bibliography of materials on file in the Assessment File in Boyd 314 is nearly complete. C. LeBlanc volunteered to help set up a web page so everyone can have access to this information. Replies have been received from seven of the fifteen "comparable institutions" to which requests were sent. This information will be placed in the Assessment File in Boyd 314 and a summary prepared for committee members. Chair spent some time going over the major issues discussed at the NEASC workshop since none of the other committee members had been able to attend. Only two committee members had submitted lists of learning outcomes which we might seek to assess before the meeting. Chair urged others to submit such lists before the next meeting. Replies from General Education and other committees has not yet been received either. It appears that the letter to faculty will not be ready until September 1999. Drafting such a letter will be the major topic of the next meeting. Chair will devise a first draft for committee reaction and distribute it before the May meeting. Chair is still looking for any committee member(s) who can join him in attending the AAHE Assessment Forum in Denver, June 13-16. It is necessary to register before May 7 to get the lowest rates. Chair will ask to give a report on our activities to the May General Faculty Meeting. The next meeting is scheduled for May 12 at 11:15 am in the Tower Room of the Hartman Union Bldg. |
