About Professor McDougall 

Professor of Business Duncan McDougall received his B.A. in fine arts from Amherst College, where he was also New England intercollegiate champion in springboard diving. He received his MBA with high distinction and later his Doctor of Business Administration degree from Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration. Dr. McDougall was named Graduate Distinguished Teacher for the MBA program in 2004.

McDougall has extensive experience working in industry, including serving as president and chief operating officer of Rochester Shoe Tree Company in Ashland, N.H. He has published widely on his research on manufacturing strategy and manufacturing performance management.

Dr. McDougall teaches in both the undergraduate and graduate business programs. His courses include management accounting and operations management, as well as administrative policy, entrepreneurial ventures and international business. His research, writing and executive programs focus chiefly on manufacturing strategy and performance measurement in manufacturing. His recent research involves pursuing the hypothesis that improved inventory practices in American manufacturing contributed measurably to the steadiness of the economic growth of the 1990's.
