What Can I Do With A Major in Business?
A degree in business prepares students for a wide variety of career options from overseeing the basics of a company to managing the technology systems in each profession. Plymouth State University focuses on several concentrations within the Business program:
- Accounting: Accountants may specialize in one of three areas: financial accounting, managerial accounting, or taxes and assurance services. Financial accounting includes exploring accounting issues as they relate to published financial statements. The study of managerial accounting examines techniques for decision-making that use accounting information. Studying taxes and assurance services as an undergraduate student can lead to public accounting positions.
- Marketing: Marketing is an exciting and dynamic field that focuses on linking products and consumers in mutually beneficial exchanges. Marketing majors learn to develop marketing strategies and implement marketing programs through the application of a wide range of concepts and analytical tools.
- Business Administration: Administrators oversee the function of the office and insure that everything runs as efficiently as possible.
- Management: A focus on management allows you to be a leader in an organization. Management opportunities exist in virtually every area of business. The goals of managers are often to maximize the potential of resources and employees.
