Student Orientation Adventure Program (SOAP)

This opportunity kicks off new student orientation allowing students to develop bonds with each other, the natural surroundings and our campus. This program is optional.

  • Is required for students who wish to enroll in Calculus or for students majoring in:

3:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Meet the Faculty
The first of two opportunities to meet the faculty. Representatives will be available from each department to answer your specific questions in regard to your declared major or major of interest at the following locations:

Information session options begin at 3:30 p.m. and at 4:30 p.m.

The four session options below will be offered at both times. Students and parents are encouraged to "divide and conquer" so that you can sample all the sessions.

3:30 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. OPTION 1: Billing ~ How does it work? Financial Aid ~ What happens now? — Silver Center for the Arts, Hanaway Theatre
Learn about:
  • Accessing your online tuition bill
  • Important due dates
  • Financial Aid — how it applies to your bill
  • Payment options (online payments, monthly payment plan, federal aid, parent and alternative loans, external scholarships, etc)

Students should plan to attend this session. Only students have access to online bills and financial aid information and must determine with whom they will share access or information (parents, guardians, etc). Those who accompany the student will learn PSU processes so they can better understand the billing and/or financial aid process(es).

OPTION 2: PSU Computing & Technology — Hyde Hall, Room 220
Computer requirements, support, online services, wireless access and safe computing. This interactive session will provide you the vitals on computing at PSU. It will also offer you ample time for questions.
OPTION 3: Residential Life — "Home Away From Home!" — Silver Center for the Arts, Smith Recital Hall
Information about on campus living as well as an opportunity to ask questions, no matter how large or small they may seem.
OPTION 4: "15 Things First Years Need to Know... Including How to Fight the Freshman 15" — HUB/Multi-Purpose Room
This presentation is brought to you by members of PSU's Whole Health Team.
