The simple answer is “almost anywhere”. Each semester PSU students fan out across the globe to study in Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria, Romania, Hungary, Japan, Ireland, Spain, and South Africa, to name a few.
The Office of International Programs has established affiliations with preferred providers, in addition to established exchanges with universities to offer a wide variety of programs around the world. A preferred provider is an organization in which they offer study abroad programs at universities around the world and generally present a full package of room/board, tuition, cell phone, insurance, special excursions, etc. The Office of International Programs establishes affiliations with preferred provider organizations after an extensive investigation of the provider takes place. One of the distinguishing features of Plymouth State University’s study abroad program is that our staff attempt to visit every site and program where we place students. During these site visits we evaluate program offerings, student services, accommodations, technology, medical services, optional excursions and risk management. We also attend classes and meet with faculty, program staff, and students participating in the program.
Occasionally, we’ll get a request from a student to study in a country or with a program provider that is new to Plymouth State University. We are happy to investigate these for possible affiliation by the University. However, to ensure our student’s safety and the academic integrity of our programs, it should be noted that these investigations can take well over a year. Should a student elect to pursue a study abroad program which PSU is not affiliated, the Office of International Programs will be unable to offer any assistance with the process.
