Major: Business Management My NSE experience was probably the best semester of college I had in my four years. Getting to study away in a warm climate and large school was everything I always wanted. Meeting great people from all over the country was something I am so grateful for now. Since leaving USF, I have been able to travel to other parts of the US and visit the friends I made while i was on NSE.
National Student Exchange FAQAm I eligible? To be eligible for the National Student Exchange, you must
How do I get started?Review the "Student Information" section on the NSE Web site. Please bring your questions with you to The Bagley Center. There is also a formal application to complete. We will assist you with how to select a host campus, how to complete an advising agreement with your advisor, how to check on financial aid transferability (a budget sheet will be constructed with the coordinator), registration, housing, and medical history concerns. Deadline for applications for the 2010-2011 semesters or academic year is February 19, 2010. Please be sure to pick up your application from The
Bagley Center and submit it prior to this date. How are placements made? The student completes an application and selects up to five or more campuses on the application. The coordinator from Plymouth State takes the application to the annual conference held in March to process the exchange applications with the other 190+ campus coordinators. Even though you apply for an exchange, there are no guarantees of acceptance. The campus of your choice may be competitive, which will lessen your chances of getting accepted. It is best to prioritize your choices on your application. Acceptance is a campus decision based on several factors (examples might be: a host campus may have space or housing limitations affecting the number of acceptances they can make, or be classified as an "even" exchange member meaning the numbers of incoming and outgoing students need to be very similar). If any of the requirements listed above are not met, including the possibility of your GPA falling below a 2.5 and/or not meeting the requirements of the host school, your participation will be cancelled. What does it cost?Plymouth State is a Plan B exchange participant. This means our students pay tuition to Plymouth State and would pay the room-and-board and fees to the host school. In addition transportation to and from the host school is arranged and paid by the student participating in the NSE exchange. There is a one-time non-refundable annual appication fee of $300. This fee is assessed to all students submitting applications at any time during the year. Fees are owed regardless of placement or subsequent withdrawal after placement. This non-refundable application fee appliies to one placement per application period. You may select more than one college campus per application. This fee is assessed to all students submitting an application at any time during the year. Fees are owed regardless of placement or subsequent withdrawal after placement. Students must complete the exchange 2010-2011 application and submit it to Ruth Decotis by February 19, 2010 along with the non-refundable aplication fee. There is a high probability for placement, financial aid portability, proven procedures for application and acceptance, and strong support structures on our home campus as well as at the host campus. NSE is an affordable opportunity with high student satisfaction. How are my grades applied? While you are away at the host school you are enrolled in a study away course number for 12 credits classifying you as a full-time student. When you have completed your course work at the host school your credits will be listed as transfer courses stating the name of the host school and your credits. The transferring of credits will follow the Plymouth State guidelines for Transferring Courses to Plymouth as outlined in Plymouth State's current year academic catalog. Your credits will be added to your overall accumulation, however, grades will not be calculated in your grade point average. Please note that The Bagley Center does not provide advising by e-mail.
