![]() Events/FundraisersEventsBeginning of Year Open House - August/September: A day for families to visit the Center before opening day to get acquainted with teachers, other families, and to familiarize themselves with the Center. Program Open House - October/November: An evening for parents/guardians of children enrolled at the Center to talk with teachers, other families, and get information about the program. Program Potluck Family Gatherings - Dates Vary: Families sign up to bring their favorite dishes to share with other families and the Center teachers. A great chance to socialize and get acquainted with other Center families. Family Literacy Night - Date varies: An evening sponsored by the CD&FC staff. Teachers perform story theatre, share songs, fingerplays, puppetry, and other important elements of literacy for young children. Student Presentations to Families - December and May: Students in the Early Childhood Studies program at Plymouth State who complete practicum at the Center display and share documentation (photos and text) about the learning experiences and projects they have completed with the children over the semester. A great way to show your support of the students and to get to know those working with your child! Student Appreciation Day - May: A day set aside to celebrate and say "Thank You" to many University students who do wonderful work with the children at the Center. Families are asked to contribute "goodies" for this event. Week of the Young Child - April: A week established by the NAEYC to celebrate young children! Events and themes vary each year. Family Fun Fair - Last Tuesday Center is Open: Fun end-of-the year event for children and families. A "carnival-type" atmosphere where families and teachers set up activities for the children to participate in. Events have included: waterplay, facepainting/temporary tattoos, donut decorating, dancing, a balloon artist, spin art, bubbles, goody table, and a "dunk-the-teacher" tank! FundraisersTown-Wide Yard Sale - September: Families and Plymouth State Community members are asked to donate items to the Center's booth at the Plymouth Town-Wide Yard Sale. School Photos - September/October: Children may be photographed individually, with siblings and/or with their class (sorry, no family photos). Families receive proofs and can choose what, if any, they wish to purchase. A percentage of the proceeds go to the Center. Cherrydale Farms Sale- October/November: Cherrydale Farms sells wonderful gifts, gift-wrap and other goodies. Families are asked to sell items from a catalog. Young Children are NOT expected to solicit door-to-door. Book Fairs - November and June: The Center hosts a book fair utilizing various companies which supply quality children's books. The Center earns money and free books! Parents' Night Out - Fall and Spring : Do you rarely go out because of lack of reliable sitters? Once during the fall and spring semesters, the Center staff and student helpers open the Center's doors to your children while you go enjoy a nice evening. Reservations are required and space is limited. Children's Artwork T-shirt/Tote bag Sale - April: A Center t-shirt is created yearly with art work from each child attending the Center. Tote bags are also available. A great keepsake of your child's experience at the Center. CD&FC Cookbook - Ongoing: In 2005, the Center families and staff put together a collection of simple, yummy, and (mostly) child-friendly recipes. Includes some of the children's favorites from our nutrition coordinator. To order, email naldrich@plymouth.edu or call 535-2299. Cost: $12.00 per book, $10.00 for three or more. Box Tops for Education - Ongoing: The Center is registered for the General Mills Box Tops for Education program. Just look for and clip Box Tops coupons found on General Mills products and leave them in the Center drop box (near the office). The Center receives $.10 per box top. This helps the Center earn a few hundred dollars each year. Hannaford Helps Schools - August - December: Collect register tapes from Hannaford with the Hannaford Helps Schools Certificate on it. Tape values vary from $2.00-$6.00. Drop off the register tapes at the Center drop box (near the office) or at the drop box in Hannaford with the CD&FC name on it. We traditionally make a few hundred dollars from this fundraiser! FundingFactory Recycling Program: Ongoing: The Center will take your used ink cartridges, cell phones, and other various items (a list will be given out at the beginning of the year). Drop box is in front hallway of Center under family mailboxes. The Center can receive money, ink cartridges, or various other much needed items! Cookie Dough Sale: This fundraiser takes place in November and allows families and friends to purchase over 20 different flavors of pre-made, frozen cookie dough. Young Children are NOT expected to solicit door-to-door. |
