Professional Interests:
Thom’s research specialties include glacial and alpine geomorphology, Quaternary stratigraphy and chronologies, climate change, lacustrine sedimentology, and tephrochronology. He has been recently funded by NSF for several projects, including Testing Latest Pleistocene and Holocene glacial chronologies in the western United States with cosmogenic-nuclide and radiocarbon dating and models, Integrating Earth and environmental science education into a business curriculum using technology enhanced learning, and Enhancing climate change communication between broadcast meteorologists and viewing audiences , the latter being a collaborative between Bentley University and Plymouth State University. Thom is also an authority on the glacial history of northern New England.
