Research Interests and Activities:
I came to PSU’s ES&P graduate program to explore ecosystem services as a member of New Hampshire’s EPSCoR project. My research involves the Upper Valley region of the Connecticut River watershed, and looks at the kinds of services society gains by maintaining a healthy functioning watershed. In some instances, these ecosystem services are not fully realized until they become jeopardized. Flood regulation is one such service, and is of special significance here in the Northeast, where there is a long history of river manipulation. I am uncovering ways that stakeholders within the Upper Valley value and understand these services, and the ecosystem dynamics that shape them.
Personal Interests and Community Service:
When outdoors, there are few things I enjoy more than exploring new terrain while hiking, skiing, or fly-fishing. Indoors, I live for good food and cooking (the stranger the better!), as well as reading, crosswords, and the Lord of the Rings.
