As a student in the Department of Communication and Media Studies, you will gain theoretical and practical knowledge that can be applied to a career in film, television, advertising, public relations, print and broadcast journalism, mass communication, media studies, media writing, online communication, marketing, sales, promotion, and a variety of other fields. In the process, you will learn more about the world (and yourself).
As a Communication and Media Studies student you'll experience:
- A bachelor's degree program with options in film and media studies or professional communication
- Minors in media studies, digital media and game design, and professional communication
- A variety of media production courses including The Art and Science of Animation, Film and Video Production Techniques, Advanced Video Art Production, and Advanced Game Design and Development
- Frequent special topics courses that have recently included Alternative Visions in Cinema, African-American Popular Culture, Media and Sexual Minorities, and Television and Terrorism
- Annual on-site media studies conferences that draw presenters and participants from across the United States and around the world
- A dedicated faculty committed to providing active, discussion-based learning
- Opportunities for internships, collaborative research projects, and service learning experiences
- Annual film and video competition
