Are You Afraid of Opera

We are so fortunate to offer another season of “Are You Afraid of Opera,” with our truly gifted and passionate instructor, Dr. Manuel Marquez-Sterling. His zeal for opera is contagious and participants find themselves truly enjoying each and every class. Manuel taught history at PSU for 35 years with a specialty in medieval history and culture. He also broadcasted the popular radio program “History in the Music of the Great and not so Great Composers” over WPCR, the PSU radio station.

Dr. Marquez-Sterling’ passion for opera has brought him to many venues, from academic halls to international cruises, and even traveling with groups of opera aficionados to countries including Italy, France, England, and Spain. For the last 28 years, he has taught a popular PSU community course “Are You Afraid of Opera?” Won’t you join us for the season?
