This songwriting class is for voice, string or wind instruments, or for piano. If you have a basic knowledge of elementary scales and chords, Errol can teach you a simple method to develop that short melody repeating in your head, into vibrant, full-fledged music – your song. We are so fortunate to offer another season of “Are You Afraid of Opera,” with our truly gifted and passionate instructor, Dr. Manuel Marquez-Sterling. His zeal for opera is contagious and participants find themselves truly enjoying each evening class. Manuel taught history at PSU for 35 years with a specialty in medieval history and culture. He also broadcasted the popular radio program “History in the Music of the Great and not so Great Composers” over WPCR, the PSU radio station.
Dr. Marquez-Sterling’ passion for opera has brought him to many venues, from academic halls to international cruises, and even traveling with groups of opera aficionados to countries including Italy, France, England, and Spain. For the last 25 years, he has taught a popular PSU community course “Are You Afraid of Opera?” He is also a featured lecturer for “Opera New Hampshire.”
