Interested in volunteering abroad? The Community Service Center works with a student coordinator to plan the International Service Trip (IST). The International Service Trip for January 2013 went to Petersfield, Jamaica. Planning for IST begins early to allow for ample fundraising time, which helps keep out-of-pocket expenses to a minimum.
Planning for IST can take up to a year and a half and is typically funded through personal contributions from the students participating, funding from Student Senate allocations and lots of fundraising. Previous Trips have been to the Dominican Republic to work with Orphanage Outreach, Petersfield, Jamaica to work with the Association of Clubs and Cochabamba, Bolivia to work with youth based organizations.
In recent years, we have collaborated with Amizade, a non-profit with strong community relationships in Jamaica and Bolivia.
