• Spring 2008 Award Recipients: Kyle A. Hancock, Outstanding Senior in Information Technology;  Aaron J. Lasell , Outstanding Senior in Computer Science;  Douglas E. Plumley, Elaine Gail Vaillant Brown Scholarship; Nathan R. Porter, Charles E. Brown Computer Science Scholarship;  Zachary R. Stoppe, Gary David Johnson Scholarship.  Congratulations to all of you for your academic achievements!
  
• ACM Regional Programming Contest Fall 2008 :  In October the PSU programming team consisting of Mike Inman, Harry Krehbiel, Nick Ortakeles, and coached by Christian Roberson attended the Northeastern Regional preliminary of ACM’s International Collegiate Proramming Contest held at WNEC.  This year the team came in 9th place overall and defeated teams from UMass, UConn, Skidmore College, and Siena College.
  
• ABET Accreditation:  In mid-August 2005 the Plymouth State University administration and the Computer Science and Technology Department were notified by the Computing Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (CAC/ABET) that the B.S. degree in Computer Science has been accredited effective October 2003.
  
• Peter Drexel was one of 10 judges for the semi-finals of the IEEE Computer Society's international design competition.  This is the third year he has serve in that role.  Ten teams of university students are chosen from among 300 projects submitted from all continents of the globe.
  
• Roger Marshall presented a series of invited lectures on " Bioinformatics and Speech Processing” at Vagdevi Engineering  College in Warangal and GVP College of Engineering in Vizag , July 19 - August 3, 2008, both in India.  He also published a paper, "Gene Machine - A hardware/software platform for analyzing genome data".  M. Elloumi et al ( eds ), Bioinformatics Research and Development , BIRD 2008,  CCIS 13, pp. 517-527.
  
• Zhizhang Shen's paper co authored with He. L., and Qui, K. on "Neighbourhood Broadcasting and Broadcasting on the (n, k)-Star Graph” was awarded "Best Paper" at the 8th International Conference on Algorithms and Architectures for Parallel Processing (ICA3PP'08), Cyprus, June 9-11, 2008, Springer LNCS 5022, pp. 70-78. He also published with Qui., K, and Cheng, E. "On the Surface Area of the (n,k) Star Graph",  in the Proceedings of the 2nd Annual International Conference on Combinatorial Optimization and Applications (COCOA '08) August 21-24, 2008, St Johns, Newfoundland, Canada, Springer LNCS 5165, pp. 393-404.
