Paul O’Brien lives in Wolfeboro New Hampshire. He is currently a member of the faculty at Plymouth State University where he teaches the capstone course in the Business School. He also co-chairs his town’s economic development committee.
Mr. O’Brien recently served as Senior Vice President of the Harvard Medical School Affiliate, Joslin Diabetes Center and COO of its Strategic Initiatives organization where he oversaw the successful reconstruction of the entire center’s strategy, operating model and the negotiation of key alliances and affiliations.
Prior to his leadership role at the Joslin, he was the Special Assistant to the Massachusetts Secretary of Economic Development with particular focus on the Commonwealth’s energy strategy.
Mr. O’Brien retired from Global Crossing Inc. in early 2006. He was Executive Vice President of the Enterprise organization and led the firm’s successful post bankruptcy activities from London, England.
His career experiences include President of GTE/Genuity Telecom, and Senior Vice President of GTE/Genuity, the world’s 3rd largest internet IPO.
Earlier he served as Vice President and General Manager of AT&T/NCR Teradata, where he led the turnaround and growth of the firm’s world wide communications industry business unit.
A native of Boston, Mr. O’Brien has an MBA from Suffolk University. He also attended Dartmouth’s Tuck Executive Program and AT&T’s Executive Development program at Princeton.
He is a past director of the Commonwealth Corporation, Envoy World Wide and the Hamilton County Business Incubator in Cincinnati Ohio. He was also the Chairman of the New York based Conference Board’s Council of Services Marketing Executives.
