One of the hallmarks of the Counselor Education and School Psychology Department is its emphasis on the translation of theory into practice. Therefore, many of the programs include intensive field experiences that provide additional training and experience.
As a student in the School Counseling or Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, you complete a 100-hour practicum and a 600-hour internship in either a school or community-based setting. The Human Relations program also requires a 100-hour practicum in a setting compatible with your area of interest. The School Psychology program requires a total of 1300 hours of practica and internship. Throughout these experiences, faculty members and site supervisors closely monitor your progress and provide support and feedback.
