Internship Opportunities

Communication and Media Studies Students have the option of completing an internship that meets a group C course requirement. Students are encouraged to participate in internship experiences. Students can take up to two different group C internships. The outcome of including internship experience enables students to link their course work with practical application.

We invite students to seek out internships that will connect classroom learning with practical experience. We encourage you to participate in, at least, one internship during your time as a Communication & Media Studies major.

Advisement

The internship coordinator provides advisement in the areas of site selection, when to seek out internships, number of hours, and number of internships.

Professional Services

The internship coordinator provides support for professional services that include resources and consultation in the following areas:

  • Resume Building
  • Interview Preparation
  • Portfolio Development
  • Professional Leadership
  • Career Planning

Professional Preparation

The internship coordinator will also work with students to successfully complete their internship and the associated requirements. The following assistance is offered:

  • Completion of official paperwork for the Department of Labor
  • Review and completion of experience journal
  • Review of paper draft
  • Contact with site supervisor and evaluation letter
  • Review and completion of portfolio
