ED 2200 - Using Technology to Support Teaching and Learning

An introduction to the role of instructional and educational technology in the teaching and learning process for K-12 students. Students investigate technology integration theories as well as gain hands-on experience with hardware and software tools designed for managing the classroom experience, delivering materials to learners, communicating with learners and families and assessing learning. Students apply current theory and instructional techniques while learning to use word processors, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software, digital video, simulations, web applications and other software applications designed to address specific learning needs of children. Includes designing and delivering a lesson using technology, observing a technologically enhanced classroom, creating instructional materials using multiple technology tools, evaluating hardware and software tools and building components of an electronic portfolio.
