Internships

These have been student-generated in the past; although some have occurred due to faculty contacts, most have come about because a student wants to gain some experience in a given field. Our interns have most recently been employed primarily by software and insurance companies, although there was at least one who interned as an industrial engineer/statistician for a local company (interning under a former PSU student), and one who interned at Argonne National Laboratory.

The department also offers a course, MA4600 – Internship in the Mathematical Sciences, which allows students to earn up to six credits per internship.

Scholarships

Fellowships:

In addition to the math tutors in the MAC (Mathematics Activity Center), each semester there is a student designated as the Undergraduate Mathematics Fellow whose responsibility is to tutor students in mathematics major courses such as the Calculus sequence, linear Algebra, our proofs course, differential equations. The student earns a $1,000 tuition credit per semester.
