Carol Flate Gerken '67

GerkenCarol F. Gerken was appointed Executive Director of CHMM Community Caregivers in 2008. Community Caregivers, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit volunteer organization, provides information and supportive services for neighbors to assist them in their daily lives.  Before joining Community Caregivers, Carol served as the Director of the Inter - Lakes Senior Center in Meredith.  She is a principal with Wingate Enterprises, Consulting in Meredith, NH with her husband, Richard, a former corporation lawyer.  Before moving to NH, she was employed by the Du Page Children's Museum in Wheaton and Naperville, Illinois.  Her areas of responsibility included founder/manager/buyer of the Museum store, customer services facilitator and trainer, and as special events planner and fundraiser. 

A graduate of Plymouth State University, Carol was named to the President's Council at Plymouth State, an advisory board focusing on fundraising, in 2001.  As a member of the Meredith Community Center Search Committee, Carol was active in the private fundraising phase of that campaign.  Carol is a graduate of the Leadership Lakes Region Program.  She serves as a member of the: Service Link Resource Center Steering Committee, Altrusa International Club of Meredith, the Greater Meredith Program Promotions Committee, and the Pathways Committee for the Town of Meredith.  Most recently Carol served as the co-chair of the successful Page Pond and Forest Leadership Campaign Committee dedicated to raising private funds for conservation in Meredith.  The Meredith Rotary Club honored her with the 2009 Community Service Award for "Service above Self".
