Wally Stevens is the Executive Director of the trade association for the Global Aquaculture Alliance. Wally recently retired as President of Slade Gorton & Co., Inc. in Boston, Mass. Slade Gorton is one of the largest seafood marketing and distribution companies in the United States. Previously, he was president of Ocean Products Inc., a salmon aquaculture business in Maine, preceded by 17 years at Booth Fisheries serving in many capacities and at many locations around the country. Stevens has been in the seafood industry since 1970. He served three years in the Army after graduating from Plymouth Teachers College, and then joined Sylvania Electric as a plant controller. He is a past chairman of the National Fisheries Institute, the seafood industries trade association and has initiated a future leaders training program and trade show alliance plan for the industry members. Stevens is also President of the American Seafood Distributors Association which is currently active in the defense of free trade programs for seafood products. He is a director of the Newmarket Business Association and editorial advisor and contributor to ID magazine. Stevens has been a director at the Greater Chicago Food Bank and a trustee of the Weston United Methodist Church.
