Gifts of Appreciated Assets

Making a gift of appreciated securities, real estate or other tangible property is an attractive option for some. In most cases, contributions of appreciated property bring the same deductibility as cash gifts, while eliminating capital gains taxes. Gifts which may impose risks are subject to approval by the Gift Acceptance Committee of Plymouth State. Call 1-800-772-2620 and ask for Kit Otto for assistance with making a stock gift and for transfer instructions for stock gifts (please give these instructions to your financial advisor).

Planned Giving

Another attractive option for alumni and friends to consider is a planned or deferred gift that allows one to make a major commitment to Plymouth State without sacrificing income needed today. Many alumni have remembered Plymouth State with bequests in their wills or have made Plymouth State the beneficiary of a charitable remainder trust, life insurance policy or gift annuity. Director of Development Angela Matthews will assist donors in assessing the planned giving options available to them through PSU.
