From recipes that include the most nutritious mix of ingredients to offering educational resources for positive lifestyle habits, healthy offerings are the result of a team dedicated to advancing the well-being of the entire campus community.
For students who have special dietary and nutritional needs we have a full roster of informational resources and customized menus to address your needs. These menus meet the strictest compliance standards, without sacrificing flavor, texture or presentation.
Another important part of our focus on health and wellness is the use of seasonal menus, featuring fresh and healthy ingredients – many of which are grown by local or regional farmers. Every season has its own unique produce that is showcased in delicious signature dishes to highlight the distinct flavors and natural appeal of seasonal items.
In addition to these healthy options, all foods in the dining hall have nutritional facts displayed so that students can make educated choices about the foods they choose to eat.

We believe that when customers are presented with delicious healthy options and choose those foods on their own terms, they are more likely to enjoy the experience and realize the benefits that come along with a healthier lifestyle. As a result, they are more likely to repeat those good choices.

Sodexo’s nutrition icons make it easy to identify healthy choices. Look for these nutrition icons to help you meet your dietary needs or desires.
The Mindful meals are in accordance with the USDA’s plate design and include a vegetable, protein and wholesome carbohydrate. They also meet the following nutritional criteria:
- < 600 calories
- < 35% of calories from fat
- < 10% of calories from saturated fat
- < 100 mg cholesterol
- < 800 mg sodium
- > 3 g fiber
- Trans fat free
In the Fall of 2013, PSU Dining Services launched the new Mindful program. The program achieved great success in allowing our dining services to provide foods that balanced nutrition with enticing flavors to create an indulgent way to enjoy health. The Mindful program has helped making healthy choices become second nature.
