Acclaimed chef, author and television personality Anthony Bourdain once said, “I know what I want. I want it all. I want to try everything once.” That idea summed up a September 25 cooking competition at Plymouth State University that left several hundred PSU students, staff and faculty smiling after being treated to a multitude of freshly prepared, locally produced foods. The Localvore Cooking Challenge at Prospect Dining Hall pitted chefs from seven New Hampshire and Vermont colleges and universities creating made-to-order dishes based on local, fresh ingredients – with those sampling the food voting for their favorite dish.
