Personal and professional areas of interest:
My professional interests include the education of English language learners (ELLs) in low-incidence settings, that is, schools where there aren’t many ELLs. A new research interest is English language education for incarcerated non-native speakers of English. James Whiting

Goals and visions about diversity at PSU?
I’d like to help Plymouth become a more diverse and inclusive community. I am particularly interested in working towards an increase of different cultures and languages spoken on campus; greater numbers of non-traditional-aged students in classes; an environment that is more welcoming to a larger, more diverse queer community of students, staff and faculty; and finally, I think a worthy goal is to develop a community which is spiritually more diverse and inclusive.
