Diversity Display Window
One of the display windows in the PSU bookstore in the Hartman Union Building (HUB) has been dedicated to programmatic efforts on diversity issues. The idea of the display case was conceived by the President’s Commission on Diversity in 1996, and is supported by Follett Higher Education Group.
The Commission’s goal is to have other constituencies of the
campus community (whether they are academic class groups,
administrative departments or student organizations), invest in
educating others on issues of diversity by designing their own
displays for the window. The displays may coincide with topics or
cultures being discussed in the classroom, focus around a national
theme month, target issues involving ethnic or religious diversity,
or may be used in conjunction with a major program which will take
place on campus. The intent of the display is not to promote an individual organization or their
specific mission.
The window has great visual impact on individuals who walk through the
HUB. It’s an ideal location and an ideal way to promote concepts,
provoke thought and give a "voice" to diversity at PSU.
The Commission hopes that care and planning will contribute to the
window’s attractiveness and message as different ideas are
expressed.
If you would like to apply to use the display window, please fill out the Diversity
Window Application (MS Word Fill-in. The application is also available as a PDF.) and submit it
to:
Dr. Deborah John
17 High Street MSC 22
