Finding Registration
If you encounter any of the following errors contact the Registrar’s Office at (603) 535-2345:
What is a CRN?
CRN stands for Course Reference Number. This number is a system -generated number assigned to each section of a course. It really represents a new way to register. That is, rather than entering a course number (eg. EN-1200.01) students will now register using a CRN. For example, the following is what the new Time and Room Schedule (newspaper) will look like:
| CRN | Courseid | Title | Days | Times | Instructor | Room |
| 11546 | EN 1200 01 | Composition | MWF | 10:10 11:00 | Professor | R124 |
| 11786 | EN 1200 02 | Composition | MWF | 09:05 10:00 | Professor | R204 |
| 11987 | SO 2220 01 | Sociology | TR | 08:00 09:15 | Professor | M103 |
| 12654 | SO 2220 02 | Sociology | TR | 02:00 03:15 | Professor | R322 |
In this example, if you wanted to register for the MWF 10:10 section of Composition, EN1200.01, you would want to know the CRN 11546. This is the number you would use to register for the course on-line. If you also wanted the TR 8:00 section of Sociology (SO2220.01), you would want to know the CRN 11987. So forth and so on.
The registration system does have a search mechanism so if you do not know the CRN of the course you want to add, you can search on a number of criteria (discussed in the searching section). However, overwhelming, those who have tested the system find it quicker and easier to use when registering using CRN’s.
Selecting a Term
Once you have selected the Add/Drop Classes link, you will be asked to select the term for which you wish to register. Do this by choosing a term from the pull-down menu that appears. Please be careful in your selection – there are both Graduate and Undergraduate terms – you must select the correct term to find the courses for which you wish to register.
Adding Classes – CRN or Search
Searching for a Course
If you do not know the CRN of the course(s) you would like to add, you may search for courses by clicking the “Class Search” button at the bottom of the Add/Drop Classes page.
The search engine offers many criteria on which to search – only Subject is required. In general it is better to use only two or three criteria – entering more often yields unexpected results.
After entering criteria, click “Find Classes” at the bottom of the page. This will return a list of courses which match your search. Those courses available for registration will have a checkbox on the far left of the listing.

New students should not drop any courses in to which they were pre-registered. These courses are required by your program and must be completed in your first term. All personal selections (First Year Seminar or Directions courses) must work with your existing schedule.

Your Time Ticket (when you may register), Holds, Academic Standing, Student Status, Class, and Curriculum may prevent registration or restrict the courses you will be permitted to select.

Schedules
There are two schedule options:
The Student Schedule by Day and Time option is a grid format. Courses which meet in a future part of term (eg second half courses which have not yet begun) and arranged courses (with no scheduled days or times) appear as separate links at the bottom of the page.
The Student Detail Schedule is a listing of registered courses which includes days, time, instructor, location, title, credit hours, etc. Schedules are “real-time” which means that they are accurate up to the moment. As soon as a course is added or dropped in registration, it is added or dropped from the schedule. It is highly recommended that you print this type of schedule.
