An examination, through readings in fiction, nonfiction and poetry and through film, of the diverse roles and experiences of women and men who traveled the overland trails and settled in the frontier lands of the American West. Students study the impact of this migration on the indigenous peoples of the west and learn to connect this time period and experience with their own family histories and origins. Springs.
