Changing Colors

1). Use the Set Foreground Color/ Set Background Color button located on the bottom of the left toolbar.
 
2). Click either the foreground box or the background box depending on which color you want to change. Note: Background color is the color that appears when something is erased or a selection is deleted.
3). A dialog box titled Color Picker will appear.   You can adjust the hue of the color box by dragging the slider bar on the right of the color box up and down.
 
4). To choose a color, simply click anywhere within the color box.
5). Once you have chosen the desired color click OK to close out of the dialog box.

Note: To make sure that the colors being used are OK for the web click on the small check box in the lower left hand corner of the Color Picker dialog box titled Only Web Colors .

 

Changing Colors for Text or a Shape

1). When using either a Type Tool or any shape making tool ( Custom Shape Tool, Ellipse Tool, etc) a new toolbar appears at the top of the screen.
2). Look for the dropdown menu on this top toolbar titled "Color".   Click on the dropdown arrow.
 
3). Boxes with different colors will appear.  Scroll up and down to see different color options.
4). Click on the color desired then click anywhere outside of the dropdown menu.
5). If you want a wider selection of colors click on the button titled "More Colors . . . " located at the bottom of the dropdown menu.  The Color Picker dialog box will appear.  Use the Changing Color procedure above to pick a color from the Color Picker dialog box.

 

Note: To reset to A.P.E. default colors (black foreground and white background) press the hotkey D on your keyboard.
