Creating a New Layer

1. Select the area of your photo/image that you would like to make into a new layer by using one of the selection tools.

NOTE: Make sure you are working on the layer that contains what you want to make into a new layer; otherwise, you may encounter an error message. See FAQ.

2. Right click on the selected area.
3. Select Create a New Layer .
4. Type in the name of your new layer.
5. Press ENTER.

 

OR

1. On your keyboard, type CTRL + SHIFT + N .
2. Type the name of your new layer in the dialog box that pops up.
3. Click OK.

 

Renaming Layers

1. Locate the Layers Palette in the lower right-hand corner of the A.P.E. interface.

2. Double click on the name of the layer you wish to change.

3. Type in the new name of the layer.

4. Press ENTER .

 

Switching Layers

1. Locate the Layers Palette in the lower right-hand corner of the A.P.E. interface.

2. Click on the picture of the layer you wish to switch to.

 

Hiding/Showing Layers

1. Locate the Layers Palette in the lower right-hand corner of the A.P.E. interface.

2. Click on the eye next to the layer you wish to hide. If no eye is showing, the layer is invisible.

 

Deleting Layers

1. In your Layers Palette , right click on the layer you wish to delete.

2. Choose Delete Layer from the pop up menu.

3. Click Yes.

 

OR

 

1. In your Layers Palette , click on the layer you wish to delete.
2. Click on the trash can at the top of the Layers Palette..
3. Click Yes .

Note:

Text automatically becomes a new layer. If you have questions about text, please see the procedure Adding Text to an Image.
