Fundmentals of Art: Form in 3D

This page contains my work in the course entitled "Fundamentals of Art: Form in 3D"

Inflatable Kitsch Soft-Form

For this project, we were to use trash bags (or like materials) as well as tape and create an inflatable object that relates to the Kitsch style of art. I created a large flower with a smile face.

Metamorphosis

This project, made of clay, was entitled "Metamorphosis." Originally, we were to create plaster casts of three objects: an apple, a hand, and a random closed-solid form. The next phase in the project was to then create clay molds using the three casts. Once that phase was complete, the final phase of the project was to create a metamorphosis using two of the items and a minimum of 5 steps in the transition from one into the other on a clay wall. I chose to turn an apple into a small vase.

This project was called "birdcage." It is made of wire, open form and linear by nature. The point of the project as to create a "cage" that was in someway symbolic to your bird. My bird was the Snowy Owl, and is a lightbulb containing large owl eyes as well as snowflakes.

Diptych

This Project is a closed, solid form Diptych. A diptych is two separate forms that are in some way visually related. With the use of color, form, pattern, and texture, my Diptych's success speaks for itself.

Body Mapping

After researching post-modern mapping, the class took the idea and evolved it to be mapped around the body. I chose to map different diseases and where they affect the body. In contrast, I created symptoms and where they affect the body as well. I also wrote many different types of cancers around the body to draw the eye around it.

3D Self Portrait

For this project, we took 30-40 photos at various angles around our entire upper bodies. We then uploaded them to an APP called 123D Catch, which generates a 3D model out of the photos. After we edited them and cleaned them up, we sent them to a 3D printing company to be made.

Tyvek Suit Photoshoot

For this field-trip oriented assignment, each of us directed a scene for a photo to be taken regarding the white Tyvek Suits. Mine involved a scene of "judgement" where the young woman bows her head in shame as her peers throw red paint on her.
