Americorps Education Award

After successfully completing a term of service, AmeriCorps members who are enrolled in the National Service Trust are eligible to receive an AmeriCorps Education Award. You can use your AmeriCorps Education Award to pay education costs at qualified institutions of higher education, for educational training, or to repay qualified student loans. The MG James Ursano Scholarship Fund administered by the Army Emergency Relief (AER) was established in 1976 as a secondary mission to help Army families with the costs of post-secondary undergraduate level education, vocational training, and preparation for acceptance by military service academies for their independent children.

National Federation for the Blind Scholarship

The National Federation of the Blind has the largest scholarship program for legally blind post-secondary students in the country. The Federation grants thirty scholarships annually to legally blind persons in higher education from college freshmen to doctoral candidates. The scholarships range in value from $3,000 to $12,000.

VETERANS RETURNING FROM IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN
 
The Fund for Veterans’ Education will award up to $3.5 million in 2008-09 in undergraduate scholarships for veterans returning From Iraq and Afghanistan.  Full-time and part-time students are eligible.  Applications are available beginning April 1st for the fall 2008 term. The application deadline is June 15, 2008.  The awards, which are renewable, are intended to cover financial need not met with need based grants and military education benefits.

The program is managed by Scholarship Management Services, a division of Scholarship America.
