Student Rights and Responsibilities
In order to participate in the Federal Work Study Program at Plymouth State University, you must consent to the following list of rights and responsibilities. As with any other employment situation, you are expected to work responsibly and conscientiously.
Performance
Please remember that a job on campus is no different than working for an employer off campus. Students are expected to be punctual, respectful and cooperative at all times. Students should always strive for the highest level of work ethic.
Duration
Once you have accepted a job under the Federal Work Study Program, you are expected to remain on the job for at least one semester. Finding another job is never reason enough to leave a job you have accepted. Students are expected to remain on the job during exam periods, but will be excused during an actual exam. You must consult with your current supervisor prior to accepting any additional employment offers.
Illness
If illness, or some unforeseen circumstance, prevents your attendance at work, you must notify your supervisor in advance of your usual reporting time.
Termination
Students who do not perform according to the above standards may be terminated. Employers who are dissatisfied with the student's job performance should explain their expectations and outline expected improvements. If positive results do not follow, the student must be told in writing the reasons for termination.
Earnings Monitor
The student and his/her supervisor are responsible for monitoring the student's earnings during the period in which work is being performed. By monitoring your earnings, you will guard against running out of work study money (reaching your work study ceiling) before the end of the academic period. Please see your supervisor for up-to-date information about your earnings.
