Withdrawing From PSU

It is very important that the prescribed withdrawal process be followed if you expect to receive a proper tuition refund and to have the amount of earned financial aid calculated correctly.

Before withdrawing, students must contact the Vice President for Student Affairs,

to formalize their withdrawal from the University. An official PSU withdrawal form also must be completed. To officially withdraw, contact must be made with the Vice President for Student Affairs, not an instructor, advisor, faculty secretary or any other University personnel..

Withdrawing from the University before the beginning of the final examination period, when all University obligations have been met, means that students’ academic records are not adversely affected by the semester in which they withdraw. A grade of “W” will be recorded on students’ transcripts. If students withdraw after the beginning of the final examination period, without taking final examinations, failing grades will be recorded on students’ transcripts for the semester in which they withdrew.

Note: Withdrawing from the University may affect your future eligibility for Federal Financial Aid as it relates to the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAP).

Simply requesting information or a form does not constitute a notice of intent to withdraw. Until an official withdrawal form has been completed and submitted to the Vice President for Student Affairs, you have only begun the process, not completed it.
