Nancy Hellebrand

Hellebrand’s digital photographs feature images of water and cloudscapes—both elements provide a vocabulary that allows her to explore the variety of nature expressive of divinity. Hellebrand retouches the images to create what she believes is an exact visual record of the wonder she felt in a moment of gazing at nature. These austere, simple, yet monumental studies go beyond what Hellebrand actually sees, to reveal a fullness that only comes to light upon their development as art.
