At the center of this project was a community dialogue and interaction—to unearth and draw from the rich soil of community and personal memory, story, and history; reminding the young of what came before, and how things came to be as they are today—to learn from the past and the long sight of the elders in the community. It was also about what could arise out of the ruins of this once thriving city—new uses for old industrial buildings, and renewed appreciation for the natural resources coursing through the city of Yonkers, New York.
