On the back of each over sized postcard were two narratives: The text in the upper left told the story behind the photograph, while the handwritten ficticious narrative was intended to be from a visitor to Yonkers today, relaying the author’s impressions of the history, present conditions, and future possibilities of the city. Names of the writer and recipient, as well as the addresses, all suggest references to nature and how our human culture and naming is entwined with the natural world. The postcard stamps are images from the original postcards.
