LaRoche reflects on nature and the beauty of the natural world. His paintings and drawings show a reverence for this and the discipline of painting and the history of it. While he studies nature always, some of his paintings are nonobjective; they do not have an easily seen image. In these, it is the color of the sky or water, the depth of a field or forest, or texture of a tree or flower, from where his inspiration for colors, textures, and spaces comes.
