Catherine Amidon

Director of Exhibitions & Gallery

Catherine Amidon earned a Doctorat from University of Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne, France in art and politics in Europe in the 1930s. Currently director of exhibitions at Plymouth State University, Amidon has curated more than 20 exhibitions for institutions and as an independent curator, including two shows that toured nationally. She worked at the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris in the 1980s prior to returning to the United States. She also traveled through Eastern Europe and Russia for grant-sponsored research that resulted in exhibitions and articles that range from Europe in the 1930s to contemporary fiber art in Poland. Over the past five years, Amidon has worked extensively with Jamaican artists, exhibitions and critical issues of the Caribbean diaspora. She has recently completed a trip to Dakar, Senegal for exhibition research.
