Rhythmic Brushwork

October 26 - December 10, 2005
Karl Drerup Art Gallery
Opening event October 26, 4 – 6 p.m.

The work of Tafa, Stanford Watson, Peter Wayne Lewis, Enrico Riley and Danny Simmons develops out of the boundaries broken by the integration of African and Western traditions and invites viewers into the perceptual experience of abstract painting and improvised music. The five artists in this exhibition share affinities to a musical heritage rooted in Africa that has found new forms of expression across the Atlantic basin. A traveling exhibition curated by Catherine Amidon with text by Amidon and Herbie Miller.
